4 Areas of Focus
Understanding what the connections mean
What the colours on the network mean - where your opportunities for change are
What types of collaboration exist? Operational, Social and Strategic
Contextualising the collaboration quality with free text feedback
Network Reflection Questions:
Is my organisation connected in the way I would expect it to be or are there any surprises to how the system seems to be working?
This might cover teams that are more connected into the network and others that seem to be less connected.
The size of the lines on the explorer view shows the relative perceived importance of the workflows.
Do others in the leadership team also share the same expectations and opinions on these patterns?
General Reflection Questions:
Where is collaboration at its best? What we can learn from this?
Where is collaboration the weakest? What we can learn from this?
Are the opportunities for collaboration linked to anything unusual in the network shape?
Is one team collaborating less well because it’s over-connected
Are there teams that should be working directly together?
Are there teams that are under-connected that should be more closely included.
Types of collaboration
The network types are looked at here and these are:
Operational networks: Information sharing, or the ability for teams to to get things done quickly
Strategic networks: Innovation and complex problem solving
Social Networks: like feedback and trust
Some questions about specific networks that should be addressed are:
Why do we think some networks are working better than others?
What kind of themes can we extract for pointers to broader culture change initiatives?
Free text feedback
Here we summarise thousands of words of feedback from your teams to build key themes of direct, impersonal, and objective feedback?
This might be anything depending on your organisation from:
Clarity of direction,
Quality of meeting structures,
Pressure or stress,
Knowledge shortfalls,
Training challenges
All this is just the top level executive insight and once you have discussed this you may be ready to move on to the team level data and insight and share this with your leaders and managers in their specific areas.
